The Solar Collection panel is designed
for roof intergration but it may also be "on-rood" mounted or flat
roof mounted. This means that it is normaly recessed into the roof like a
skylight.
The solar collector is designed to fit easily into a modern metric interlocking
tile roof without requiring the cutting of tiles. Other roofs such as staggered
tiling, imperial tiles and slate roof may require the use of half tiles or
cutting existing tiles to fit.
The panel is designed to fit on existing tile laths with extr strips of wood
supporting the top and bottom edges. The complete kits contain flashing, lead,
for the bottom edge and a moulded channel for the vertical edges. The tiles
overlay a rubber sealing flap on the edges of these and on the top edge.
The collector cover is made as a one piece moulded ploycarbonate cover
which is virtually unbreakable.
50 mm of insulation is provided on the back to minimise heat loss and
inside , spectrally selected, copper sheet. 96% of all incoming solar
energy is absorbed from the sun. Only 8% is lost through emittance. This
reflects in very high levels of heat within the panel which is collected via 25
netres of serpintine shaped copper pipe. This pipe is fixed to the back of the
layer of copper sheet using high temperature solder.
